about

This is a concept album. It narrates a story of a future in which humankind discovers a valid metaphysics - that is, a set of principles which promise to explain the workings of culture, society, and mind.

In this probable future, humans take seriously the possibility that the universe is a simulation... and that this simulation, in particular, is one conducted for the purposes of inference. By studying physical mechanisms of the universe, we become inspired to develop more advanced algorithms for deployment to human problems. And various computational 'tricks' are found to offer an explanatory framework that spans seemingly-arbitrary physical constants, recurrent themes in human history (such as the battle between good and evil), and clues as to humankind's future. As our computational insights start to penetrate the metaphysical veil, our world begins to change more and more rapidly. These evolutions occur under newly-watchful eyes: those of the powerful Clade of the Enneazetton, a set of information-theoretic entities empowered by system operators to carry out basic administrative duties to ensure optimal system functioning - and ultimately the receipt of a converged solution across the block universe which satisfies the system's convergence criteria and will be found good under the objective function.

Quaterni0ne's novella, for which this release is a soundtrack, is being prepared for publication in September 2024.
